Three of the four KBO games scheduled for today have been canceled due to rain.
First, the game between the KT Wiz and LG Twins at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul was canceled. Prior to the game, LG was in first place with a season record of 78 wins, 2 losses, and 48 draws, while KT was in second place with 73 wins, 3 losses, and 56 draws. KT had announced Yoo Byeong-seong and LG had announced Kim Yoon-sik as their starters.
However, the rain from the previous day continued to fall. The raindrops weren’t heavy, but there was a fair amount of scattered rain before the game. Eventually, it was decided to cancel the game at 5pm. The canceled game was pushed back to the next day, the 27th, where the two teams will play a doubleheader.
LG will start Casey Kelly in game one of the doubleheader and Kim Yoon-sik in game two. In game one, the team will use their ace to take the early lead. This season, Kelly is 9-7 with a 4.02 ERA in 28 games and 165⅔ innings pitched. She will look to reach double-digit wins for the fifth straight season.
KT will be bolstered in game two. Manager Lee Kang-cheol called for sovereignty in Game 1 and exclusivity in Game 2. With a strong opponent in Kelly, he plans to go all-out in Game 2 instead of Game 1. KT has the advantage of having three days off after the doubleheader on the 27th.
The fourth-ranked Doosan Bears (67 wins, 1 loss, 59 draws) and fifth-ranked SSG Landers (64 wins, 2 losses, 62 draws), who were scheduled to meet at SSG Landers Field in Incheon, will also have a day off due to rain. The two teams already had a doubleheader scheduled for the 27th, but the game was canceled at 5:15 p.m. and will be made up at a later date.
Doosan will start Kim Dong-joo and SSG will start Roenis Elias, but in the doubleheader on Sunday, Doosan will start Brandon Waddell in game one and SSG will start Kwang-hyun Kim.
Brandon, who is back in a Doosan uniform as a replacement for Dylan Pyle, is 9-3 with a 2.76 ERA in 14 games and 81⅔ innings pitched this season. Chasing his first 10-win season in the KBO.
Kim Kwang-hyun will make his first start on four days’ rest after giving up three runs in seven innings at Literature Lotte on April 22. Kwang-hyun is in the midst of a four-game losing streak without a win in his last seven games. Kim is 7-8 with a 3.90 ERA in 26 games and 145 1/3 innings pitched this season. 먹튀검증
The game between the No. 9 Samsung Lions (53-1, 74) and the No. 8 Hanwha Eagles (52-6, 70) at Hanwha Life Eagles Park in Daejeon was canceled at 6:15 p.m., just before the start of the game. Samsung and Hanwha will also play a doubleheader on Sunday.
Samsung will use Taylor Widener, who started Game 26, in Game 1 on Sunday. Hanwha will start Kim Ki-joong in Game 1 on Sunday instead of Felix Peña, who started on the 26th.
Widener, who joined Samsung after being released by the NC Dinos, is 5-5 with a 4.88 ERA in 17 games and 94 innings pitched this season. Kim Ki-joong, who started the season in relief and was recently given the opportunity to start, previously pitched five innings of two-run ball against Gochuk Kiwoom and five innings of two-run ball against SSG in Daejeon on April 19.
